Are Zippo lighters windproof?

Yes. Zippo lighters are designed with a unique windproof chimney that allows the flame to stay lit in most weather conditions. However, extreme winds may still affect performance.

What fuel does a Zippo lighter use?

Zippo lighters are designed to be used with Zippo Premium Lighter Fluid. Using alternative fuels (like kerosene, gasoline, or butane in regular Zippos) can damage the lighter and void warranty.

How do I refill my Zippo lighter?

  • Remove the lighter insert from the case

  • Lift the felt pad at the bottom to expose the packing material.
  • Slowly saturate the cotton with Zippo lighter fluid.
  • Replace the insert, wipe any spills, and ignite carefully.

How long does a Zippo flint last?

A single Zippo flint typically lasts 1–4 weeks with regular use (approx. 5-10 sparks a day). Heavy use may wear it down faster. Always carry spares if you use your lighter daily.

How do I replace the flint?

  • Unscrew the brass screw at the bottom.
  • Remove the spring and old flint.
  • Insert a new Zippo flint.
  • Reinsert the spring and screw tightly.

Do Zippo lighters come with a warranty?

Yes. All Zippo lighters come with a lifetime warranty: “It works, or we fix it free.” Mechanical issues are repaired at no charge, but consumables (flint, wick, fuel, inserts with damage due to misuse) are not covered

Why does my Zippo lighter run out of fuel quickly?

Zippo lighters are not airtight, so lighter fluid may evaporate even when not in use. To reduce evaporation, keep the lighter closed when not in use and store it upright.

When should I replace the wick?

Replace the wick when:

  • It turns black and hard.
  • The flame becomes weak or irregular.

To replace: pull out the old wick with tweezers, thread a new wick through the chimney, and pack the cotton back in.

My lighter is not sparking, what should I do?

If your Zippo doesn’t spark when you strike the wheel:

  • Check if the flint is worn out and replace it.
  • Make sure the flint spring screw is tightened properly.
  • Clean the flint wheel if dirt or soot is blocking it.

The flint wheel is not rotating, what’s wrong?

  • Ensure the flint is not jammed or worn down to dust.
  • Remove the insert and check if the flint spring is stuck.
  • If the wheel is blocked, gently clean it with a small brush or compressed air.
  • If the problem persists, Zippo’s lifetime warranty service will repair it free of charge.

Important: The brass tip at the end of the spring is not a flint. Many people mistake it for a flint, but it’s just the spring end

How do I clean and maintain my Zippo?

  • Wipe the case with a soft cloth.

  • Avoid abrasive cleaners that may scratch the finish.
  • Keep the chimney area clear of soot buildup for a strong flame.
